ABOUT ME
(Pronounced Hohl-GEEN)
I am proud to serve as the Special Education-Math Resource Teacher at Terra Vista Middle School! This is my 3rd year of teaching and I have spent the past 2 years teaching 7th grade math.
Before my career as an educator, I spent 7 years in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff, with certifications as a Crisis/Hostage Negotiator, Instructor, and Mental Health Officer.
In 2024, I earned the nationally accredited Certified Public Manager credential through Texas Tech University. I am proud to be 1 of over 2,600 certified public managers in Texas. I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Certified Public Managers.
CLASSROOM PHILOSOPHY
I believe every student is capable of learning mathematics when they are supported, encouraged, and given the opportunity to learn in ways that work best for them.
I strive to build my students confidence in their mathematical abilities. I want all my students to feel comfortable asking questions, and more importantly making and learning from their mistakes
Finally, mathematics is the language of the universe and nature. From the patterns found in seashells to the rhythm of music, to the cosmic wonders of the universe, math is all around us. By helping students recognize these connections, I hope they see mathematics not just as numbers on a page.
