Merrie King, Orchestra Director

An experienced music educator and orchestra director, Mrs. King has extensive experience teaching in school districts throughout Texas.  Her orchestras have consistently earned First Division ratings at UIL competitions and "Best in Class" awards at regional music festivals, reflecting her commitment to musical excellence. Prior to joining Frenship ISD, Mrs. King lived in Japan with her family, where she taught high school music to military connected students and provided private violin instruction to members of the local community.  In recognition of her dedication and impact, she was honored with the 2025 National High School Heart of the Arts Award for the state of Texas.
