Frenship ISD Celebrates School Board Appreciation Month

Each January, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issues a proclamation to highlight the important role of school board members across the state, stating in part, “Ensuring a quality education is the work of many, and school boards are a vital component of this success. These local leaders use their time, energy, and knowledge to set and review budgets; oversee the management of Texas’ public and charter schools; and ensure the students receive an exemplary education.”

In addition to the proclamation, the Texas Association of School Boards sets an annual theme to help celebrate school board members’ contributions. This year’s theme, “Leadership for Tomorrow’s Texas”, honors their commitment to creating meaningful educational experiences and opportunities that prepare students to become the next generation of leaders.

As elected officials, the members of the Frenship Board of Trustees advocate as a voice for their communities, serving the best interest of Frenship students, families, teachers, and staff. But their service goes far beyond the board room.

These dedicated men and women volunteer their time to serve on the board and across the district. From spending time with students and their families during our Tiger Bites Summer Feeding program to reading to elementary students during class to supporting teachers through grants from the Frenship Foundation, these board members truly love Frenship.

Frenship is honored to thank our board members who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing our local school district:

David R. Miller, President - serving since 2006

Kyle Rogers, Secretary - serving since 2011

Jamey Phillips - serving since 2015

Andrew Cox - serving since 2020

Chelsea Salazar - serving since 2023

Shawn Vinson - serving since 2023

During the monthly board meeting on Wednesday, January 22, Frenship will recognize our board members for their dedicated work to the district.
