Welcome! I am very excited to be teaching sixth-grade Reading Language Arts (RLA) this year! This is my thirty-third year to teach. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, with a minor in English. I taught sixth grade reading and English for five years, and I taught seventh grade English for fourteen years. I then returned to teach sixth grade English. Reading and English are now combined and called RLA.
I am married and have two children. My son, Tyler, is thirty. My daughter, Berkeley, is twenty-five.I have one granddaughter, Nora.
My class will include reading and writing. I will also teach editing skills throughout the year. I try to give students time in class to complete their homework so that I may help them. Please ask your child each day to see his/her agenda book. Your child should write the assignment worked on in class that day. The agenda book is a great tool to help students organize homework as well as to be a communication tool for parents and teachers.
In order for this year to be a success, I encourage parents to email (email@example.com) or call (806) 796-0076 ext. 130 if you have any concerns or questions. Together, we can make a difference in your child's life. I look forward to a wonderful year!
